Montalto Medical Centre is a Care Navigation Practice that uses Signposting to help Patients

receive the Right Care

from the Right Professional

at the Right Time

All Reception Staff have been trained to Care Navigate and will ask you some questions about the reason for your appointment.

They will follow a protocol and WILL NOT MAKE CLINICAL DECISIONS. All staff adhere to rules of confidentiality at all times.

We have a practice based physiotherapist, mental health practitioner, social workers, pharmacists and advanced nurse practitioners that are available to provide telephone consultations.

If you feel you need to speak to a doctor or other healthcare professional, please ring 02897562929 between the hours of 8.30-10.00 am and 1.45-3:30pm. You will be put through to a member of the Reception Team who will take brief details of your ailment and your telephone number for a call back by a health professional. PLEASE ENSURE WE HAVE AN UP TO DATE TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR YOU AND PLEASE NOTE THAT IN THE FIRST INSTANCE  YOU WILL RECIEVE A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION WITH THE GP WHO WILL THEN DETERMINE WHETHER A FOLLOW UP FACE TO FACE CONSULTATION IS REQUIRED THEREAFTER. If all calls are taken for the day and you feel that your call is an emergency, please make a member of the admin team aware so that they may speak to a health professional on your behalf for assessment.

The admin team are unable to offer face to face consultations as this is at the discretion of the GP only.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CALLS ARE ALLOCATED ON A FIRST COME BASIS AND THAT UNLESS IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY GP'S MAY BE UNABLE TO TAKE YOUR CALL IF THEY HAVE REACHED THEIR CAPACITY AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO PHONE BACK AT A LATER TIME. 

Do Not attend the surgery unless you have been given an appointment for a healthcare professional.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:00 if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.

Please do not abuse this service, as it is reserved for housebound and chronically ill patients and in cases of medical emergency.

Teaching

We are an approved postgraduate training practice, which means we may have a GP Registrar in the practice for 6 months or a year. The registrar is a fully qualified doctor who already has a wide range of hospital experience, but who must spend a year with an approved practice before being eligible to work as a principal in general practice.

We are also an approved practice for the training of medical students from Queens University who must gain experience in general practice. If the doctor has a student with them, the Receptionist will inform you. If you would prefer to see the doctor alone please say so. During your consultation, with your consent, occasionally audio video recordings may take place for training purposes. We value your co-operation in this matter.
